Article 77 of Regulation (EU) 2023/1542 provides that, from 18 February 2027, each LMT battery, each industrial battery with capacity greater than 2 kWh and each electric-vehicle battery placed on the market or put into service has a battery passport.

Design for differentiated access
The Batteries Regulation distinguishes information accessible to the general public, information accessible to notified bodies, market-surveillance authorities and the Commission, and defined information accessible to persons with a legitimate interest. A public battery page must not expose every underlying record.
