Textiles—particularly garments and footwear—are an ESPR priority. Priority status supports preparation and regulatory monitoring, but it does not by itself finalise a universal textile DPP dataset, application date or passport granularity.
Typical textile data challenges
- Customer, brand, style, SKU and production identifiers do not reconcile across systems.
- Material composition data is stored in PDFs, email or supplier spreadsheets.
- Evidence is not linked to the correct product, material, facility or version.
- Supplier visibility weakens beyond tier one.
- Traceability granularity and event capture are not formally decided.
- Claims and product data lack provenance, approval and change history.
Recommended preparation
Controlled product master
Reconcile style, SKU, model and customer identifiers across commercial and production records.
Structured composition
Move relevant composition and component information into defined, queryable fields with sources.
Evidence workflow
Standardise requests, formats, validation, due dates, expiry review and escalation.
Versioned requirements
Keep regulatory assumptions and field matrices configurable and source-linked as measures evolve.
Do not invent a final textile passport
Do not publish unverified mandatory fields, deadlines or technical standards. Label preparation recommendations as recommendations, and update them only through a reviewed source-management process.
Primary and authoritative sources
Source links are provided for verification. Scope, consolidated versions and later measures should be checked again before implementation or reliance.
